Philippa and Paul are the cl***c friendly and helpful hosts. Their group of villas are quiet, picturesque and comfortable. Our villa had a tremendous view across to the Roque St Christophe with the setting sun was memorable. Their suggestions for places to visit were all excellent and interesting.
The knowledge of local culinary sources and restaurants was out of this world. When they offer to book you in to the local restaurant for you first night do NOT refuse. If like us, whom enjoy excellent food, you will book again and again. The chef at the Table du Moustier cooks exquisite food and the wine list is to die for with local wines.
In the area also do not miss the L’auberge du Coq in Fleurac. The owner is a Michelin star chef who decided to move away from large hotel to run his own place.
The area is spectacular with places to visit ie Lascaux 4 you must not miss (buy the tickets on line so you do not have to queue), Baynac and Castlenaud plus the gardens of the Gardens of Marquessac. You will soon fill a week and have a list to return to Philippa and Paul’s Les Manoir Les Granges for another year or two holiday.

This was our second stay at Le Manoir and we enjoyed it as much as the first time. La Roque Terrace was clean and comfortable. There is lots to do in the surrounding area or you can simply relax and use the (very clean) pool. Paul and Philippa are very helpful and friendly hosts and gave us some very good suggestions of where to go and where to eat out.
The Boulangerie and local restaurant are within easy walking distance and both were very good.
I am sure we will be returning.

On arrival we were warmly welcomed to the house by Paul and Philippa. We were a group of 7 adults and 4 children – aged 8 to 11.
The house is very well equipped and maintained. It’s a treat that all the bedrooms have ensuites. The pool provided a welcome relief from the high temperatures. The kids loved played with inflatables left by the previous people and their own ( enjoy the boat :) ) we also played table tennis under the shade of a walnut tree. The house has lots of room for us - we could sit together in the kitchen or out on the patio.
We all had breakfast round the big table in the kitchen. A daily walk to the local bread shop to collect croissants / pain au chocolate was a must during our stay. We also walked to the Roc St Christopher (my son loved the snack bar there) and the local restaurant. The restaurant owners looked after us so well for our celebration.
The owners were really helpful, including making an appointment at the local doctor for one of our group. We absolutely loved our stay at the house.
The house is in a great location – may places to visit within a short drive. The stars at night are wonderful

Bref, on recommande !

My teenage daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed our six-night stay at Le Manoir. Le Manoir is perfectly located for exploring the medieval towns, chateaus, prehistoric sites, and the peaceful rivers and countryside of le Perigord Noir. We stayed in the Tobacco Barn, which was spacious (3br with ensuites), clean, comfortable, fully-equipped, and which opens to the pool and gazebo. When we were not out exploring the region we enjoyed the pool, beautiful walks near the property, and spectacular evenings dining in the gazebo, watching the sun set on Roque St. Christophe and the moon rise at dusk (truly serene).
We loved being hosted by Paul and Phillipa. They were warm and welcoming hosts - helpful, generous and happy. We hope to return to Le Manoir.

This was our second holiday in France and at Le Manoir Des Granges. We stayed in the Walnut Store which is a beautiful, typically French style one bedroomed gite. It was spotlessly clean and had everything you might need, including shared use of a chest freezer and washing machine, which were accessed just off the courtyard, there was also a clothes line, ironing board and iron (very handy if you are staying for a while). The bedroom has a door which opens directly onto the poolside where there were parasols, chairs and sunbeds. The pool was lovely and we wasted no time in getting in there to cool down. At the front of the Walnut Store we had our own little terrace where we could sit out and soak up the atmosphere whilst having our breakfast or evening meal. Le Moustier has a fantastic restaurant and boulangerie which are a 5 minute walk away, it was perfect. Our hosts Phillipa and Paul were really lovely and were there to give us advice on places to visit and the best markets, they even booked us a table at Le Table du Moustier on our first night so we didn't have to worry about finding somewhere to eat. They were very kind and helpful yet never intrusive. Thank you for a wonderful holiday (and for the lovely bottle of wine you left for us), we thoroughly enjoyed both and we hope to be back again soon.

This gite has its own private terrace so was ideal for us with our dog. Lovely gite in a beautiful location. Nice bottle of wine and walnut cake waiting on arrival. Much appreciated. Bakery and restaurant within a 5 min walk. The owners are extremely helpful, without being intrusive, suggesting places to visit and booking restaurants and the vet for us. The Dordogne is a beautiful part of the world and we will definitely be going back.

Our two families had a great week at Le Manoir. Communication with Philippa and Paul beforehand was a good level of detail and timely. The house is well proportioned with generous sized rooms which are all en suite. The house is lovely and historic with mature gardens. The secure pool with steps made access for our kids easy. The kitchen is large and well equipped. The house was spotless when we arrived. It is well located very close to the many attractions in the Dordogne which Philippa and Paul were happy to help with suggestions and recommendations for. Best for our family was the beautifully clean river 5 mins walk away for wild swimming and beach play. Thanks so much Philippa and Paul.

Second Visit in 5 Years - Wonderful Place, Great Hosts!
This was our second stay at Les Manoir de Granges in five years, both times were absolutely wonderful. One of us being of limited mobility (but ambulatory, no wheelchair) La Rocque Terrace's layout and furnishings were ideal. The gite is sited in a great location for doing the best of the Dordogne - there is something absolutely magical about drinking your morning coffee and watching the mist clear off the river to reveal the ancient site of Roc St Christophe, or, for that matter, sipping a chilled glass of Monbazillac and eating foi gras while watching the sunset paint the cliff face.
Paul and Philippa are superb hosts, welcoming and attentive to guests needs while at the same time allowing a healthy sense of space and privacy. We would definitely do this again (this time we were with them for three weeks) and have absolutely no reservations about recommending the gite to others.

We booked 4 nights at short notice. We had a restful break exploring the cave at Rouffignac and the Rocque St. Christophe over the river and enjoying meals at La Table de Moustier in the village, and the wine. Perfect! Thank you Philippa and Paul, we hope to see you again.
